Fahrenheit To Celcius Conversion
|
The two units used for expressing temperature measurements are degree Fahrenheit (°F) and degree Celcius (°C) You may require to do Fahrenheit to Celcius conversion. Degree Fahrenheit was designed by a German physicist known as Gabriel Fahrenheit. He graduated his scale from zero. Zero was the lowest temperature he was able to obtain. It was the temperature of frozen mixture of salt and ice. The temperature of ice 32 and that of boiling water was 212 degrees in this scale. Degree Celcius was designed by a Swedish astronomer known as Anders Celcius. He also graduated his scale from zero to 100. Zero was the temperature of freezing water and 100 degrees was the temperature of boiling water. Both measurements were taken at atmospheric pressure. Because the Celcius is graduated into 100 units it is sometimes referred to as degree centigrade.
Fahrenheit to Celcius conversion is done by first subtracting 32 from the value temperature in degree Fahrenheit. Multiply the balance by 5 then divide this product by 9. For instance let us convert 185 degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Celcius. We begin by subtracting 32 from 185 to get 153. We then multiply 153 by 5 to get 765. Finally we divide 765 by 9 to get 85. Therefore the temperature that measures 185 degrees Fahrenheit will measure 85 degrees Celcius. This conversion process can be expressed by the following formula:-
°C=(°F-32)*5/9 To convert degrees Celcius to degrees Fahrenheit first multiply the value temperature in degree Celcius by 9 then divide this product by 5. Finally add 32 to the result. For instance let us convert 30 degrees Celcius to degrees Fahrenheit. We begin by multiplying 30 by 9 to get 270. We then divide 270 by 5 to get 54. Finally we add 32 to 54 to get 86. Therefore the temperature that measures 30 degrees Celcius will measure 86 degrees Fahrenheit. This conversion process can be expressed by the following formula:-
°F=(°C*9/5)+32 The following symbols have been used to represent the following mathematical operators. * for multiplication, / for division, - for subtraction, + for addition and = for equals. It is interesting that there is a temperature at which the Fahrenheit value of is equal to the Celcius value. This value is -40. Let us try to convert -40 °F to °C using the above formula. °C=(°F-32)*5/9 = (-40-32)*5/9 = -72*5/9 = -360/9 = -40 The answer is -40 °C Let us also try to convert -40 °C °F to °F using the above formula. °F=(°C*9/5)+32 = (-40*9/5) + 32 = (-360/5) + 32 = -72 + 32 = -40 The answer is -40 °F |
